Being 53, Angelica Weiss has no limits

The Swiss riders will compete in a cross country race for the first time and she will do it in Desafío Ruta 40 on her Yamaha Raptor 700 quad. She’s a motor sport and an off road lover.Weiss has broken all the barriers and frontiers to be present in the competition par excellence in Latin America. “I am seen as a weirdo in Switzerland”.

Leutwil is a town located in Argovia, where less than a thousand people live. The off road activity there is non-existent. However, Angelika Weiss who started riding quads at the age of 42 but loves rallies as long as she can remember trains everyday by setting her own itineraries in the region and neighboring countries.

She has been traveling to Argentina since she was a kid and in every visit she goes through off road areas of our country in her quad. Passion took her to run into Daniel Mazzucco in 2014 (5 times winner of Desafío Ruta 40 in 4×4 Quads) and she took a personal navigation course in Fiambalá and from there she focused on chasing her dream.

“I’ve intensified my physical training and my search of sponsors. I have to explain what a cross country rally is in Switzerland. They cannot imagine how is it to follow a road book with a GPS that does not mark any road in the middle of a desert. They look at me as if I was some kind or “weirdo”, explained Weiss.

The 53-year old rider is seeking to achieve her goal: “My aim and big dream is to start the Rally Dakar. As these kind of competitions do not exist in Switzerland and I have no contact in Europe, I have taken the chance Argentina is giving me”, she pointed out.

In order to do so, the rider who was born in Lucerna, will race in Desafío Ruta 40 together with Gastón Pando in the Holando Rally Team on a Yamaha Raptor 700. “I want to have fun riding the quad, get every day to the bivouac and finish. I’m going to enjoy places I’ve never been before, navigation and every now and then I will flat out to enjoy speed”, the Swiss riders stated with excitement.

There are no age or frontier limits to be part of Desafío Ruta 40. From June 17 to 23, the second round of the Argentine Championship of Cross Country Rally will take place with a lot of excitement and adventures.
